FOR ANDREW HUSE 🌴
Andrew Huse spent years digging through archives, old menus, newspaper clippings & recipes trying to answer the age old Florida dilemma:
Where did the Cuban sandwich come from?
He followed the story through Havana, Tampa, Miami, Key West and the Cuban diaspora, and helped tell the much bigger story behind what is, on the surface, just a really, really, really good sandwich.
making one.
And with that, we’re making one.
This week at Gramps Getaway, we’re serving a Cuban sandwich in honor of Andrew Huse and his work preserving the history, culture & stories behind the food we eat.
Roasted mojo pork that has been marinating and roasting for 5 days by chef brody armstrong & James McNeal
Cuban bread made in house by jasilienn
Miso mustard (which u may recognize from our infamous smashburg)
Honey smoked ham (ur telling me a honey smoked this ham?)
Pickles
Melted swiss cheese
Andrew once said, “Miami is the capital of the Cuban sandwich, let’s face it.”
So we’re taking that as permission to cook one up
